How to Fish

The beauty of topwater lures is that they are so visual, which gives you as the angler plenty of immediate feedback on the action of the lure.

The Rapala X-Rap Pop is a truly versatile topwater popper; it can pop, spurt, walk and swim. Four actions from one lure!

To pop the X-Rap Pop, lower your rod tip and give the lure a short strike; this should create a popping sound with little splash. To spurt the X-Rap Pop, raise your rod tip slightly higher and give a slower and longer pull of the rod to the side; you will notice that the lure sprays a large amount of water in a forward direction – very effective for raising fish to the surface.

Walking the X-Rap Pop is done through the same method as walking a traditional stick bait, like the X-Rap Walk; repeatedly twitch the lure ensuring that you throw slack line back to the X-Rap Pop in between movements. This method should send the X-Rap Pop walking from side-to-side.

Finally, the X-Rap Pop has a very enticing sub-surface swimming action which can be activated by winding the lure in at a fast pace, pulling the cup face underwater.
